As mentioned in a previous review, this remote can make some annoying noises but it is less offensive and fortunately much quieter than many other battery operated toys. It is designed to sound like you're switching channels and my son is very amused by the voice that predicts the weather--always optimistic: "It's going to be bright and sunny today!" By 11 months he would hit that button and then look out the window at the sky. I think this is an educational toy.
