Fisher Price Thomas & Friends Misty Island Discovery Playset Review
My 3 year old son got this for Christmas. We haven't had it long enough to speak to its durability but from a design standpoint, it stinks. The track layout basically has two separate loops joined by a single curved piece that only goes in one direction. Thomas can do one lap on one loop but then gets stuck in an endless cycle on the second loop. There's no way for the train to get back to the first loop other than picking it up and putting it back there. Ridiculous! The whole idea is to make an entire system that the train can travel around and around. We don't have other Trackmaster sets (asked Grandma for more wooden railway pieces but got this instead) so I can't speak to the compatibility of these pieces with other trackmaster sets. Pieces did fit together fine and Thomas did travel around the loop smoothly without being derailed, so that's good. Oh, and we couldn't get the rail sides to stay up before the train got there, they'd just fall over as the train headed up the hill. If this weren't a gift that got immediately ripped open, I'd return it for sure.
