Fisher-Price View-Master Where The Wild Things Are Gift Set Review

Who doesn't love View-Masters? I had one as a kid, the classic red color, and fondly remember seeing pictures of weird animals, beautiful locations, and pictures from shows like Sesame Street in the little picture reels that would come with it. For those who've never had one, a View-Master is a little plastic object that looks like binoculars, and there's a switch on the side. You look into the View-Master's eye holes after you put a paper circle with little images on it along the radius, and press the switch to go through them. Think of it as a mini-slideshow.
This one here is the Where the Wild Things Are version. It's a View-Master and includes the entire book on three picture reels. Yep, the entire book is here, page by page. It's really cool to see it like this, even if a big selling point on the actual book was getting to enjoy the illustrations on the full sized pages. The picture reels come in a little hardcover book of Where the Wild Things Are, but it's not the full book- just a few pages showing the Wild Things and their names, and the last page has a slot that holds the reels. The names of the Wild Things are taken from the movie, not the original names given by Maurice Sendak, that were based on his aunts and uncles like the McFarlane figures used.
There's not a whole lot more to say about this. The View-Master is the standard quality you'd expect, and it's fairly durable. The picture reels require some care though, but that's pretty obvious. Kids ages 2 and up will have no problems using this. My daughter's 3 and thinks it's the coolest thing to see Where the Wild Things Are like this. Hearing her go "DAD, THE SEA MONSTER!" and seeing her big smile while holding the View-Master over her eyes was priceless. I'll definitely be buying a few more picture reels. 'can't believe I forgot about these things until now.
