Kidz Delight Discovery Steps Review

Most noticable aspect about this toy is the quality. It's actually good quality.
It is made of very durable plastic that is up to the challenge of the roaming toddler who will carry it, thow it, slam the sides closed and play with it for months to years. And the sound is just amazing; each page's music sample is surprisingly very clear and doesn't have the speaker wine to it like some of the other music based toys. I wouldn't be able to tell the difference between this and an audio CD. Each page plays a different little sound and after all the pages have been turned the middle has buttons that play little clips of different songs. My only complaint is the piano samples are a bit too short. I would have liked a longer sample. The music samples are recognizable and a pleasure to listen too.
It does not have a volume button though so it is a bit loud.
Each page is on a hinge system that is fully enclosed so there's no chance little fingers can be pinched. However, little hands that have not quite mastered opening and closing can easily get a hand or a few fingers caught under a page until they learn to move fingers as they close something. But the plastic is light and so long as it's the child himself who closed the page it shouldn't cause any crying or injury.
My son was 10 months when we purchased this and in the beginning he could only open the first page and he didn't quite "get it". It wasn't until he was about 16 months that he learned to open all the pages and get to the middle portion to play his musical preferences. The best part is that it seems to engage my son for minutes at a time multiple times per day. I've not yet had to replace batteries it came with so battery life is not an issue.
All in all this was a great buy and well worth the price. It's very good quality that will last for a long time. I recommend this and will buy other Kidz Delight products because this was such a good quality toy.
