Kidkraft Majestic Mansion Dollhouse Review
I could not be more excited about this dollhouse! I know this is for my 5 year old daughter, but I am in love with it myself! :D I assumed the picture was of younger girls, so I was shocked by the size when we put it together. After we thought it was about done, we realized we still had to add on a whole other "wing" for the garage & patio. My husband joked that we would need to add a "wing" to our own home to fit this dollhouse! I will warn you that it is HUGE!!! I am almost 5'2" and it comes up past my chin. It is huge, but it is SO worth it to make the room if you can fit it. It is definitely large enough that several children can play at the same time. And it is packed full of beautiful, durable furniture. The furniture and dollhouse will absolutely last for years and years. I never had anything like this when I was a little girl and I'm so excited to live vicariously through my little girl and this dollhouse! My daughter wanted the barbie dream house, but it was made of plastic and half the size of this one. I like that this has stairs and an elevator and it is large enough that she can use her barbies in it.The only 4 things I would change about this dollhouse are:
-It was delivered in a 63lb box with the words "Majestic Mansion Dollhouse" on it, along with a giant picture of the dollhouse. I know that is a silly complaint, but it was a Christmas gift. It was a little hard to hide.
-There was no picture in the instructions. Although the instructions were very detailed, a picture is still extremely helpful. It took my husband and I 2 evenings to assemble it.
-Again, no picture. I had to look online to see where the furniture went. I saw another kidkraft dollhouse that has furniture color-coated to each room and I really wish this one had that. I might just place colored dots in inconspicuous places so I know where all the furniture belongs in the future.
-The elevator is VERY hard to use. My daughter is only 5, so I don't think she'll be able to use the elevator much. It took all my strength to use it. There was a extra elevator panel in the box that had a note on it to use IT instead of the other. UNFORTUNATELY, we didn't see that until the ENTIRE dollhouse was put together. It would have been kind of them to take the other one OUT of the box and to put a very large, brightly colored note about the replacement piece. I'm wondering if that is why the elevator sticks, but we don't want to take it all apart to find out.
Anyway, this dollhouse is well worth the money and space. It is strong, durable and beautiful. I know it will last my daughter for years and years.
