My son is 4 years old and I was afraid it would be too small, but it fits him just right and I'm certain to get 2 good years out of it! He was so excited when he came home. My recommendation is to take some time off work or take some time before your child comes home because if it is a surprise for he or she then just know that some assembly is required, sticker placement, screwing on the front bumber and spoiler, etc. Plus the car's battery has to charge for at least 18 hours before it's first use.
