We gave these to her at the start of Advent this year, and by the end of the first evening she had the basic story down. So the Kings may have been camping and one of them has long hair so she swears its a girl-- but she knew that all these people came to see the baby. Maybe the Angel said "hey shepherds, want to see the baby" maybe they didn't but my 2 year old could tell you who was who. It was absolutely worth the 3 sets to see her playing with them all season. Baby Jesus even went to Christmas Mass with us! She cried when I packed them away for next year. I can't wait for next year and this is a holiday tradition I am very happy we started for our children.
Like all little people, these are cute and sturdy. We played matching games with the kings/camels/tents as well-- it was great practice for colors and sorting as each king has a matching tent and camel in the same color.
The scenery is not small, but overall the Nativity (with all the sets) still sets up smaller than my "real" one and it was played with every day all through December so it was absolutely worth it.
My 6 month old also enjoyed the set-- but mostly as something new to chew on. Camels and goats are apparently extra delicious!
